March 20, 2014

It’s that time of the week again. We’ve come together to study Book 2 of 5 in Psalms

Chapter 42

This chapter (and 43) were both written by the son of Korah.

This chapter express the suffering or the pain when one is away from God after having a relationship with him. There is also suffering from the temple and the thirst for his spirit.

He is praying to God during his sorrow.  When you have issues of any kind the best place to go is to God. Being cut off from God is like your body being dehydrated.

This Psalmist is so anguished that he has no appetite. The time frame is during a Jewish festival with a big feast but the Psalmist says he has not had any food.

This is a spiritual exile but with the help of the Lord you will receive countance  which comes from being in the “Presence of God”. How are you in the presence of God? Through prayer, worship, meditation and just focus on God you are in the presence. Also remember, you must focus quietly and humble yourself before God. God speaks in this quietness more often than in loudness; although he can and has. Sometimes we just need /have to shut up and listen. Getting quiet and focusing on God & God alone is a spiritual place you need to be and to get off by yourself here. Where is your quiet place?

Vs. 8~ The Lord is our continuous form of comfort – no matter what is going on he will always be there for you

Vs. 9~ “My Rock”; this refers to God’s strength and durability. “Upon this rock I will build my church”-Jesus

Listen to Larry Norman “Rock that doesn’t roll”

Vs. 10~ a crisis of faith because of the threat or defeat- others saying “Where is your God” A blindness of unbelief comes from this question.

How do we see God?     Through our Spiritual Eyes by having faith and through eyes of faith we can see God. The day is coming when faith will be sight and we will see God face to face.

Vs.11~This response Is appropriate for everything were go through to climb up and out of.

Look at the little pockets of Jesus/God that are coming through. Example: Hollywood is bringing more Christian based movies like “God’s Not Dead”. America shows that she wants more of this and that God is in the final control in the final analysis. NOT the President. Not the Congress and NOT the supreme court.

The chapter concludes with the Psalmist giving all the glory and praise back to God.

Psalm 43

A conclusion to Psalm 42 because there is a parallel progression of thought and similar wording. The is also an independent prayer.

Vindicate or plead my case is referring to legal terms as the psalmist is dependent on God as his judge.

Expectant and honest is the confidence the psalmist has in God.

Light and truth are connectors to God

The true source of Joy comes from Jesus Christ. We need to remember and understand that when we look at any sorrowful  circumstance it will bring us despair bur know that God is with us will bring us JOY.

The Holy Mountain is Mt. Zion.

Psalm 44

This chapter is also referred to as “One nation without God”.

This chapter is about a community complaint after a natural disaster and as they grieve for their current situation they feel the God has NOT reached down to help them at all like he promises. This community looks back on how God came through for their ancestors (of whom asked for God’s help and thanked/praised him) but have not witness God in their situation. It’s okay to look back on the past days but we need to remember that we are not and do not live in the past. This chapter is reflecting a crisis of faith. They face defeat and when you go into a battle you don’t think you can win you are in a crisis.  You may go through things that seem like defeat now BUT there is on the other a victory! We need to understand that when we complain and complain and complain to God, he isn’t always going to respond but instead he will sit back and lets the situation unfold until you cry to him for help. Sometimes God just lets it come together and he steps back for us to see what is going on. Righteous Ruminant (people following the law of God) opposed to turning their backs on God. We need to get to the point where we are humbling ourselves before God and be Spiritually Correct. God must work among and save his people BUT he will not do so unless YOU WANT IT.

GOD IS A GENTLEMAN. GOD WILL NOT FORCE IT ON YOU; IT IS YOUR CHOICE.

We are our own worst enemy.

The only thing keeping America alive is the spirit filled bible believing peoples who continue to pray to God over the county.  America is going through and identity crisis and looking for the truth. There is only one higher power and that is God.

You need to show your faith in your everyday life!!

The government is taking away our freedoms away ONE right at a time. This is something the news does not tell everyone.

Executive orders that we have no say in are what get signed and nobody reads any of them before they are signed. We need spirit filled bible believing followers of Christ in the office.

**one person comments: PUT ANNIE OAKLEY as president

We need to pray hard and preach the bible – it is offensive so don’t be afraid when it offends

Remember Jesus was the most controversial and offense person of his time. He spoke the truth!

We need to love everyone enough to tell them when they are sinning.

The church (in general) needs to stand up

Look at Revelation and how America is on the brink of falling

Stand for THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE

Sin is Sin is Sin is Sin – it is fun for a season bur you have to break it through the blood of Jesus Christ. God did not create sin it was and is brought into life by Satan and through generations where it began with Adam and Eve. God created humans to have a one on one relationship. Our bodies have adapted to sin and all the things have come through the generations.
